About the Role
IO Global, the company behind the Cardano blockchain, is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their Midnight Foundation team. This remote role will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of the company’s blockchain infrastructure across multiple cloud platforms and bare metal environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure 99.99% uptime for critical blockchain services by implementing robust monitoring, observability, and incident response processes.
- Develop and maintain open-source tools to manage Cardano and Midnight infrastructure in a multi-cloud or hybrid environment, including AWS, Google Cloud, and bare metal.
- Actively troubleshoot issues during testing and deployment to catch and solve protocol-level bottlenecks before mainnet upgrades.
- Build and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines for Midnight projects using GitHub Actions and other tools.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to provide rapid mitigation for production system interruptions.
- Plan and manage the transition from a foundation-coordinated federated validator model to a fully decentralized validator network.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role, with a focus on blockchain infrastructure.
- Mastery of Linux-based systems and administration.
- Working knowledge of container environments and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Proficiency with observability tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
- Expertise in technical scripting, including shell, Rust, Go, and Python.
- Extensive experience configuring, scaling, monitoring, and tuning cloud services in AWS and Google Cloud.
- Proven ability to write clear operational designs and blameless post-mortems.
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools, such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
