About the Role

This pivotal role focuses on enhancing the Kafka Operator experience to simplify deployment, management, and scaling of Apache Kafka environments in Confluent Cloud for enterprise customers. With your technical expertise in cloud systems and the Kafka ecosystem, you’ll empower developers and operators to build dynamic, real-time data solutions that transform how businesses react and innovate.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the product strategy and vision for the Cloud Kafka Operator, ensuring alignment with enterprise needs in event streaming and data infrastructure.
• Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities in Apache Kafka and cloud-native technologies.
• Translate strategic objectives into detailed product requirements, user experience specifications, and technical roadmaps for distributed data systems.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, UX/UI Design, Documentation, Support, and Field teams throughout the product lifecycle to deliver seamless operator tools.
• Partner with Product Marketing to develop and execute go-to-market strategies that accelerate adoption of Confluent Cloud Kafka features.
• Lead major product initiatives from initial customer discovery and conception through to growth and optimization in the streaming platform market.
• Serve as the trusted expert for your product area, guiding engineering, design, sales, and marketing teams in making informed trade-offs and decisions.
• Foster innovation in stream processing and data sharing technologies to enhance scalability and performance for global enterprise users.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a software product manager, with a focus on developer or operator tools in the data streaming or cloud ecosystem.
• Strong empathy for enterprise customers and a passion for solving complex problems in real-time data movement using Apache Kafka and related technologies.
• Proven ability to craft compelling product strategies and roadmaps in collaboration with customers, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams.
• Excellent communication skills, including distilling intricate technical concepts in distributed systems and cloud architectures for non-technical stakeholders.
• Deep technical competency in public and private clouds, stream processing, and event streaming platforms like Confluent Cloud Kafka.
• Experience with data sharing technologies and engaging with open-source communities is highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
