Reports indicate that clashes and unprecedented scenes occurred at the residence of a high-ranking military general in Lahore, which prompted serious action. A comprehensive and critical inquiry was conducted into the May 9th Jinnah House incident as a result.

Upon receiving the reports, the country’s top general, COAS General Syed Asim Munir, took notice of the unfortunate incident and replaced the serving Lahore Commander, shifting him to General Headquarters. This move exemplifies the Army Chief’s complete command and control over the armed forces and highlights his fair and merit-based thinking.

Earlier this week, thousands of protesters from the former ruling party took to the streets, even storming several installations and buildings belonging to Pakistan’s armed forces. A video clip surfaced from Rawalpindi, showing people protesting and vandalizing the residence of the Corps Commander Lahore.

Few people know that the residence of the Lahore Corps Commander is not just the home of a military general but also holds historical significance as it was named Jinnah House after the Father of the Nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
