The American Role in the Recent Israel-Palestine Conflict: History And Strategic Transformations.

The Arab world carries immense importance for the United States. Vital among these are an interrelated broad set of objectives such as uninterrupted flow of energy resources, securing US longstanding ally in the region i-e Israel and countering soviet-iran influence in the broader region of middle-east. The United States has sought to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which has been a major driver of regional dynamics, with an eye toward obtaining these strategic objectives while balancing its support for Israel and pushing for broader regional stability. Christian Evangelical community of the US strongly support Israel, the American Jewish community, nevertheless, very active in US domestic politics increases its interests further.  However, the conflict stays low on Arab countries’ diplomatic missions engaging. However, U.S. interest in resolving the conflict has waned in the US successive administrations. The Arab Spring, the rise of militant organizations, and the increase of Iran’s influence in the region further waned the US interests. But the US traditional role of acting in a balanced way; securing Israel while maintaining strong relationships with Arab countries remains an enduring objective of the American foreign policy agenda. Relations with Iran and the Arab Gulf states no longer seem to hinge on Israeli-Palestinian issues, making the conflict even less of a priority

Unraveling the Past: Seeds of Discord

“The declaration marked the beginning of a century-long colonial war in Palestine”(Prof Rashid Khalidi)

In 2017, Palestinians across the globe marched against the worst declaration to them during the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. To a substantial number of historians, this declaration saw a bitter seed of ethnic tension later proved by subsequent events of extreme violence and expulsion of the Palestinian population. To date, the pattern of bloodshed continues and many more are lost in this vicious cycle. Plenty of reasons, such as, the British desire to rally the support of Jews around the world in WWI are associated with the declaration and the subsequent emigration of the Jews from around the world. To many the establishment of Israel was not an emotional but to advance the British Empire’s interests, particularly securing the Suez Canal significant for energy commodities and trade since it opened Europe to Asia and the Middle East. This decision is regarded as gunpoint on the heads of Palestinians. The arab never accepted this and the early wars between Israel and the Arab countries broke. It was the culmination of tension between the two ethnic communities because the 1948 UN resolution blindly imposed a plan of the establishment of Israel over the indigenous Palestinian population that never accepted this. In the background great Britain well prepared the Jews for the establishment of the state of Israel Palestinians were not allowed under the British to establish institutions like jews, So the British left the mandate to the UN and came up to the partition. More than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes within Palestine’s borders, an event known as the ‘Nakba.

This request is focused on providing air and missile defence support and replenishing U.S. military stockpiles given to Israel.  The U.S. has already committed to sending Iron Dome air-defence missiles, small-diameter bombs and JDAM kits, which convert unguided bombs into GPS-guided weapons to Israel. Boeing is reportedly speeding up the delivery of as many as 1,800 JDAMs, which the company produces in St. Charles, Missouri.
