While most front-end developers understand all three technologies, some specialize in one or two. For example, a CSS specialist may deeply understand how to use CSS to create complex animations and layouts.

What Is a Back-end Developer?

A backend developer is responsible for the server side of web development. They focus on how the site works rather than how it looks.

Backend developers work with programming languages like PHP, Ruby on Rails, and Python to create logic to perform the required server actions. For example, when a user submits a form on a website, the backend developer will write code to take that data and save it to a database.

It is less important for backend developers to have a strong understanding of frontend technologies (like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript). Still, they will also need proficiency in database systems (like MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra) because they will manage and interact with these databases.

What Is a Full Stack Developer?

A full-stack developer is a web developer with both frontend and backend skills. They can work on both the server side and client side of a web application.

While most developers specialize in either frontend or backend development, full-stack developers have a more well-rounded skillset. This allows them to build web applications from start to finish, without needing to rely on another developer to complete the other half.

While full-stack developers are not as common as frontend or backend developers, they are in high demand due to their unique skills.
