Don’t you adore trays that serve a purpose? I’m sure I do. Trays were once the primary mode of transportation for dinnerware from one location to another. Fortunately, somewhere along the line, someone (it had to be a designer) decided to toss those drab trays and try something new. The decorative trays was born, and trays worldwide were ecstatic about this development.

Decorative serving trays are now used for more than just transporting items; they’re also a beautiful way to display and organize your home decor items. They’re simple to style, and, best of all, they’re portable. You can clear your table in less than 2 seconds by picking up your serving tray and whisking it to a different location on the table.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SELECT A DECORATIVE TRAY?

When you’re out shopping for a serving tray, ask yourself the following questions:

• What size, shape, and colour tray do I need to purchase?
• IN WHAT WAY DO I WANT TO USE MY DECORATION TRAY?

You’ll use your tray to transport something from one room to another, such as coffee or food. To hold your cups and dinnerware, you’ll need a serving tray with easy-to-grab handles and a flat surface that’s large enough to hold everything.

What about a vanity tray for your bedroom dresser, where you can keep your jewellery and perfume? This necessitates using a standard tray, perhaps made of glass with silver or gold accents.

DO I PUT MY DECORATIVE TRAY IN THE LIVING ROOM OR THE DINING ROOM?

The wood tray is one of the most popular options. Wooden trays are extremely versatile and can be used with any colour scheme.

Painting some wooden trays is optional; natural wood is also available. Choose any of these, and you will not be disappointed.

WHAT SIZES, SHAPES, AND COLORS OF TRAY SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR THIS PROJECT?

Staying with a solid colour scheme, such as gold or black and white or brown and clear or cream, is best. This makes it simple to decorate the tray in various ways to suit the season’s theme.

As a general rule, the length of the tray should be approximately half the width of the table.

What? If your table is 40 inches wide, a 16-inch tray is a good size to use, and if your tray does not fit the exact dimensions, don’t be concerned about it.

Consider the term timeless – fashion and taste evolve. Textures such as wood, iron, acrylic, ceramic, or natural items are excellent choices for home decor, but especially for trays and other serving trays and bowls.

I’ve broken every one of the “rules.” A rectangular wooden and iron tray is my favourite – it sits on my rectangular wooden table, which I adore, and it is one of my favourite pieces of furniture! I warned you that I was a rule breaker.

SUGGESTION GUIDELINES FOR SELECTING A DECORATIVE TRAY

Keep up with the latest fashions – any wording or design on a tray may restrict its use.

If your table is particularly large, consider using two long trays instead of one short one.

Using a tiered tray can help you make the most of a small table. Take a look at the 2 and 3-tiered stands shown below. They’re fantastic.

If you can’t decide between a large and a small tray, go with the large tray; you won’t be disappointed.

Most importantly, if you’re having trouble deciding what to buy, go with whatever makes you happy.
