Ehsaas Programme is a big program for the welfare of the state, launched by Prime Minister
Imran Khan on 27 March 2019. It is a good initiative given by the PTI government. The Govt of
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf came in to rule after the general election of 2018 in Pakistan. During
his election campaigns, Imran Khan did many promises to the nation to bring change to Pakistan.
So, the PTI government completed one of its promises with the launch of the Ehsaas program.
Dr. Sania Nishtar was appointed as head of this program by the Special Assistant to Prime

Purpose of Ehsaas Program
According to a 2016 survey on poverty, in Pakistan, it was noticed that 38.8% public suffers
from poverty while 24.4% do not have sources to get food or fulfill their basic needs. PTI Govt
Ehsaas program took a step close to PM’s vision of ‘Riyasat of Madina’. To bring out people
from poverty, PTI Govt looks forward to working with investors – philanthropists, civil society,
private, public, and expatriate Pakistanis for the establishment of a strong, safe, and successful
Initially, Ehsaas program has two motives one was the emergency cash program and another one
was the Ehsaas kafalat program. The objective of the emergency cash program was to bring
down poverty that came with the disaster of COVID-19 and started in March 2020. The Govt of
Pakistan Tehreek Insaf distributed 179 billion rupees to more than 15 million families to
overcome poverty. This program provided 12000 to every need base family. Prime Minister
Imran khan said that the globally Ehsaas program had been acknowledged.
Projects of Ehsaas program
The PTI Govt also stated that under this program, goat, desi chicken, and seeds will be given to
poor people for nutrition and to reduce poverty. The Govt also focused on education, especially
in backward areas. It offers vouchers to those students who have no Govt school in their areas, so
they can get an education in private schools. The PTI Govt introduced 3 areas under the Ehsaas
program to create jobs: the TVET sector, export, and IT sectors. The IT sector in remote areas
will bring changes as it assists and provide digital literacy to both male and females. In the

During the launch of the Ehsaas Amdan program in Layyah, PM Imran khan said that the
effort behind the development of the Ehsaas program was to bring down poverty in the country.
He said this program is comprised of the amdan and the kafalat program. Amdan program will
provide 50,000 need-base scholarships to students, free loans to small enterprises, and health
insurance coverage to 6 million families to increase income. However, kafalat program provides
kafalat cards to poor families. 786 is another Ehsaas program.
PM Imran Khan also said that the Ehsaas ration program will provide a thirty percent discount
on groceries to 20 million families. Almost 130 million people will get benefit from grocery
items including ghee, wheat flour, and pulses. Those families will be eligible for the Ehsaas
ration program and have a monthly income of less than 50,000. On 3 Oct 2022, Punjab Ehsaas
Rashan Program was inaugurated by the chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in
Lahore. This program assigns 100 billion rupees to provide grocery items to 8 million families at
a cheap rate. He praised Dr. Sania Nishtar for her hard work to make this program a success.
The PTI Govt started working on other projects of the Ehsaas program including the project of
Panagah, Ehsaas Langar program, and Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar housing scheme. The purpose
of these projects was to provide food and shelter to the poor’s and builds new houses for
