A graduate of Harvard Business School, Spodek spent most of his career at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He began working with them right out of school, and quickly rose through the ranks over time. While there, he contributed significant growth to BCG as a whole: In 1987 alone they grew by 60%. His leadership increased in importance once he was made an Associate Partner in 1989—he was one among only ten others in that position at that time—and Partners elected him President in 1994.
Education
Todd Spodek has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University, a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He attended graduate school at Harvard while simultaneously working as an analyst at Fidelity Investments. Having already completed two degrees in three years, he dropped out of Harvard and decided to pursue a career in finance instead of continuing his studies. In 2007, he earned a PhD in international relations from Johns Hopkins University.

Prior to joining American Express in 2012, Todd was named CMO of Time Warner Cable. His first job was at Xerox and he has also worked for Verizon Wireless and Discovery Communications. He’s been recognized as one of Advertising Age’s Top 50 Marketers and Adweek’s Digital Marketer of the Year. He is a member of both The Marketing Hall of Fame and The Advertising Hall of Fame. In addition to his responsibilities with American Express, Todd serves on several boards including Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, DigitasLBi North America and OpenX. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS from Syracuse University.
