Despite its stoic looks, the CORSAIR HS50 is a pair of overhears capable of delivering an adequate supply of high quality sound. That is the right place to put it. Getting the right blend of air and snooze time isn’t for the faint of heart. Those are the names of the parents on the subject. Despite a few kinks, this is one of the better pairs of overhears I have seen. Some may say it’s time for a change of pace. That’s a compliment I’d give to the CORSAIR HS50’s owner. Nevertheless, I wonder if I’d pick this as my main go-to over my beloved HS60. As for the nameplate, I’d say yes. This isn’t to say I’m looking for a resale.
The mic isn’t Bluetooth compatible.
Having a headset mic not working can be annoying. Most of the time, it means that the audio signal needs to be clarified or fixed. Thankfully, this can easily be fixed by reinstalling the headset drivers. If the mic still doesn’t work after reinstalling the headset drivers, there are other options you can try.
You can try resetting the headset’s Bluetooth connection. This will reset any interference that may be stopping the link. Another way to improve the strength of your relationship is to move closer to the router. If the router is too far away, it may overpower the Bluetooth device.
You can try using the headset’s wired connection if you don’t need Bluetooth. You can try resetting the headset’s microphone if it’s still not working.
Poor isolation performance
Almost identical to the Corsair HS60, the CORSAIR HS50 Wireless has a similar over-ear gaming design. The cups are identical to the metal yolks found on other Corsair models. The CORSAIR HS50 Wireless cups are shallow profile, making them suitable for use on the go. However, they could be better for outdoor use.
Although the HS50 headphones are relatively well balanced, there are better options for gaming. The mid-range is a bit uneven, and the highs and lows could be better balanced. Despite this, they perform reasonably well in the treble range. This is important for a headset to block out speech.
The HS50 headphones are compatible with PCs, consoles, and mobile devices. However, they have no Bluetooth capability. Despite this, they’re compatible with Corsair iCUE software. This allows users to toggle the headset between “stereo” and “7.1 Surround Sound” modes.
Lack of clear distinction between bass and treble ranges
Unlike Corsair HS60, Corsair HS50 has a more neutral sound profile. It also performs better in the treble range while providing good low-frequency extension.
Corsair HS50 headphones have a relatively large soundstage, but they have some inconsistencies in the narrower bands. This can lead to a metallic sound. However, they provide less than three dB of isolation in the mid-range, which is important when trying to block out speech.
The headphones are fairly comfortable, with a giant ear cup that fits most people. However, the lack of a detachable cable makes it hard to pull off your head when jogging or performing other sports. The ear cups are also padded, which helps to reduce pressure on your head.
The headset’s boom microphone has a high frequency of 10 kHz, which produces intelligible speech. However, the microphone response is decent but less precise than the ones on other headphones.
