Types of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is a technology that is used to form a computer, a robot, or a product to think how smart humans think. AI may be a study of how the human brain thinks, learns, decides, and works when it tries to unravel problems. And eventually, this study outputs intelligent software systems. The aim of AI is to enhance computer functions that are associated with human knowledge, for instance, reasoning, learning, and problem-solving.

Intelligence is intangible. It is composed of:

  • Reasoning
  • Learning
  • Problem Solving
  • Perception
  • Linguistic Intelligence

The objectives of AI research are reasoning, knowledge representation, planning, learning, tongue processing, realization, and therefore the ability to manoeuvre and manipulate objects. There are long-term goals within the general intelligence sector.

Types of Artificial Intelligence

Nowadays, we are using Artificial intelligence in every field to get the most out of it, Game development to make the game more interesting, Drones to enable autopilots in them, Phones (Siri in IOS and google assistant in Android) are for making our efforts count and get the work done as soon as possible.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence

AI in Astronomy

Artificial Intelligence is often very useful to unravel complex universe problems. AI technologies are often helpful for understanding the universe, like how it works, its origin, etc.

AI in Healthcare

In the last five to 10 years, AI has become more advantageous for the healthcare industry and is starting to have a big impact on this industry.

Healthcare Industries are applying AI to form a far better and faster diagnosis than humans. AI can help doctors with diagnoses and may inform when patients are worsening in order that medical help can reach the patient before hospitalization.

AI in Gaming

AIs are often used for gaming purposes. The AI machines can play strategy games like chess, where the machine must consider an outsized number of possible places.

AI in Finance

AI and finance industries are the simplest matches for each other. The finance industry has started applying automation in the form of a chatbot, adaptive intelligence, etc.

AI in social media

Social Media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, and Snapchat contain millions and billions of user profiles, which require to be stored and managed in a very efficient way and in every single second. AI can easily organize and manage a massive amount of information.

AI in Travel & Transport

AI is becoming highly demanding for travel industries. AI can do various travel-related works like from making travel arrangements to suggesting the hotels, flights, and best routes to the purchasers. Travel industries are using AI-powered chatbots, which may make human-like interactions with customers for better and fast responses.

 AI in Automotive Industry

Some Automotive industries are using AI to supply a virtual assistant to their use for better performance. Like Tesla has introduced Tesla Bot, a kind of intelligent virtual assistant. Various Industries are currently working to develop self-driven cars which may make your journey more safe and secure.

 AI in Robotics

Artificial Intelligence features a remarkable role in Robotics. Usually, general robots are programmed such that they will perform some repetitive tasks, but with the assistance of AI, we will create intelligent robots which may perform tasks with their own experiences without being pre-programmed.

Humanoid Robots are the best examples for AI in robotics, recently the intelligent Humanoid robot named Erica and Sophia has been developed which may talk and behave like humans.

 AI in Agriculture

Agriculture is a neighbourhood that needs various resources, labour, money, and time for the best result. Nowadays agriculture is becoming digital, and AI is emerging in this field. Agriculture is implementing AI as agriculture robotics, solid and crop monitoring, predictive analysis. AI in agriculture is often very helpful for farmers.

AI in E-commerce

AI is providing a competitive edge to the e-commerce industry as we depend on e-commerce to get our daily work, and it’s becoming more demanding within the e-commerce business. AI helps shoppers to get associated products with recommended size, color, or maybe the brand.

AI in Education

AI can automate grading in order that the tutor can have longer to show. AI chatbot is capable of communicating with students as a teaching assistant.

AI within the future often works as a private virtual tutor for college kids, which can be accessed easily at any time and anywhere.

Let’s Understand the types of Ai and how they are being classified:

Since AI research is being held all over the globe to form machines that emulate human-like functioning, the degree on which an AI system can replicate human capabilities and thought processes is employed because of the criterion for determining the kinds of AI. Thus, counting on how a machine compares to humans in terms of versatility and performance, AI is often classified under one, among the multiple sorts of AI. Under such a system, an AI which can perform all such human-like functions with equivalent levels of proficiency is going to be considered as a more evolved kind of AI, while an AI that has limited functionality and performance would be considered an easier and fewer evolved type of Ai. And not just this, AI will be able to improve the performance with time and experience, but it is just possible in theory so far. The only problem is we are not sure how it will turn out. As far as we know, it will be the bright side of the future, but we will find out everything with time.

Based on this criterion, there are two ways during which AI is usually classified. One type is predicated on classifying AI and AI-enabled machines as supporting their likeness to the human mind and their ability to “think” and maybe even “feel” like humans. According to this technique of classification of Ai, there are only four main types of AI or AI-based systems, and those are:

1. Reactive machines,

2. Limited memory machines

3. Theory of mind,

4. Self-aware AI

We have some other types of AI too. We will learn more about it in this article.

1. Reactive Machines

These are the oldest sorts of AI systems that have extremely limited capacity. They emulate the human mind’s ability to reply to different sorts of stimuli. These machines don’t have memory-based functionality. This suggests such machines cannot use previously gained experiences to tell their present actions, i.e., these machines don’t have the power to “learn.” These machines could only be used for automatically responding to a limited input. They can’t be wont to believe memory to enhance their operations supported an equivalent. A well-liked example of a reactive AI machine is IBM’s Deep Blue, a machine that beat chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov in 1997.

2. Limited Memory

Limited memory machines are machines that, in addition to having the capabilities of purely reactive machines, also are capable of learning from historical data to form decisions. All present-day AI systems, like those using deep learning, are trained by large volumes of coaching data that they store in their memory to make a reference model for solving future problems. As an example, a picture recognition AI is trained using thousands of images and their labels to show it to call objects it scans. An artificial intelligence (AI) scanning a picture uses training images as references to determine what is contained within a picture presented to it, and with the help of its “learning experience,” it labels all of the new images in increasing accuracy and sequential order.

Almost all kinds of present-day AI applications or software, from chatbots and virtual assistants to self-driving vehicles, all have limited memory AI.

3. Theory of Mind

While the previous two sorts of AI are and are found in abundance, subsequent two sorts of AI exist, for now, either as an idea or a piece ongoing. Theory of mind AI is the next level of AI systems that researchers are currently engaged in innovating. While artificial emotional intelligence is already a budding industry and a neighbourhood of interest for leading AI researchers, achieving the Theory of Mind level of AI would require development in other branches of AI also. This is often because to really understand human needs. AI machines will need to perceive humans as individuals whose minds are often shaped by multiple factors, essentially “understanding” humans.

4. Self-aware

This is the ultimate stage of AI development which currently exists only hypothetically. This sort of AI won’t only be ready to understand and evoke emotions in those it interacts with, but even have emotions, needs, beliefs, and potentially desires of its own. Although the event of self-awareness can potentially boost our progress as a civilization by leaps and bounds, it also can potentially cause catastrophe. This is often because once self-aware, the AI would be capable of getting ideas like self-preservation which can directly or indirectly spell the top for humanity. Intrinsically an entity could easily outmanoeuvre the intellect of any person and plot elaborate schemes to require over humanity.

The alternate system of classification that’s more generally utilized in tech parlance is the classification of the technology into Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and Artificial Superintelligence (ASI).

These are some other major types of Artificial Intelligence we will study in the near future.

5.    Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI)

6.    Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

7.    Artificial Superintelligence (ASI)
